Newly Promoted Nine Majors General Extend Courtesies to Commander

Nine newly-promoted Majors General Wednesday (20) jointly extended courtesies and called on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva at his office in the Army Headquarters.

Lieutenant General Silva welcomed them and had an exchange of views with them in relation to their new appointments after promotions and specific roles and tasks. He also inquired into their needs in future and discussed possibilities of further enhancing community projects.

Introducing a new gesture of appreciation for their elevation to the next rank, the Army Commander for the first time awarded each of them with a replica of a sword at the same occasion.

Lieutenant General Silva wished them good luck with their new appointments and requested their continued support for conduct of affairs in the Army.

D Wijesundara of Sri Lanka Light Infantry, General Officer Commanding, 66 Division, Major General A. S Hewawitharana of Sri Lanka Artillery, Director of Military Intelligence, Major General B. A. L Rathnayake of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, General Officer Commanding, 51 Division, Major General S. S Waduge of Gemunu Watch, General Officer Commanding, 52 Division and Major General A. K. A.
