Newly-Promoted Major Generals Receive Symbols of Authority

A group of recently-promoted five Major Generals of the Army today (02 Jan) during a formal courtesy call, received their symbols of authority and greetings from the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu at the Commander’s Office.

Major General A.P Wickramasekara USP psc of Sri Lanka Signal Corps, Deputy Commandant of the Defence Services Command and Staff College, Major General W.L.A.C Perera RWP RSP USP of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, Director General of Directorate of Movement, Major General A.M.K.G.P.S.K Abeysinghe of Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps, Director General of Directorate of Budget and Finance Management, Major General C.A Rajapakse RSP of Gemunu Watch, Commandant of Institute of Peace Support Operations Training Sri Lanka and Major General W.B.J.K Wimalaratne RWP RSP of Gemunu Watch, Commandant of Infantry Training Centre were present at the Commander’s meet.

The Commander of the Army extended his heartiest congratulations and best wishes to those newly promoted Major Generals who have sweated for more than three decades for the betterment of the nation.

After cordial interactions, the Commander of the Army awarded each of them the symbolic General’s sword to signify their new authority as two-star Generals. Those Officers thanking the Commander of the Army for his warm wishes added memories to the occasion by posing for several photographs.
