Newly Appointed Colonel Commandant, Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps Begins Duties

Major General D. M. K. D. B. Pussella RWP RSP, Commander, Security Forces - West, assumed duties as the 16th Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps on 08 June 2023 during a brief ceremony, held at the Regimental Centre, Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps.

The newly-appointed Colonel Commandant was warmly welcomed by Colonel M. K. S. S. De Silva, the Centre Commandant and then honoured in a Guard Turnout, followed by a floral tribute to the Regimental War Heroes’ monument.

After a short while, the newly-appointed Colonel Commandant was invited to the parade ground to receive the salute in the Guard of Honour, accorded in his honour by Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps troops at the Regimental Headquarters.

Then, symbolizing his acceptance of the new office amid religious observances, Major General D. M. K. D. B. Pussella RWP RSP, left his signature in an official document in the presence of a gathering of Senior Officers, including the Centre Commandant. Afterwards, he planted a tree sapling in the camp premises as a token of remembrance of this special occasion.

Further, setting out his scope of work and duties, Major General D. M. K. D. B. Pussella RWP RSP addressed the Officers as a formality and emphasized the importance of working as a team to protect the image of the Regiment. This statement signifies his commitment to the development of the Regiment and his dedication to the responsibilities of his new appointment.

Towards the end of the day’s ceremony, the new Colonel Commandant participated in lunch with All Ranks and took time off to share views with the attendees.
