New SLSC Colonel Commandant Begins Office

Major General Sugath Ratnayake assumed office as the 16th Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) on 04 March at the SLSC Regimental Centre amidst military formalities and religious observances.

Major General Sugath Ratnayake on arrival was greeted and welcomed by the Centre Commandant Colonel Kasun Adikari and was accorded a Guard Turnout at the main entrance. Subsequently, he placed a floral wreath at the fallen war heroes’ monument in remembrance of fallen war heroes before he was invited to receive the salute in the ceremonial parade at the Regimental Centre parade ground.

Making the event more memorable, Major General Sugath Ratnayake planted a sapling in the Regimental Centre compound after he posed for a group photograph with all the Officers present.

Subsequently, Major General Sugath Ratnayake placed his signature in a formal document amidst religious observances to signify the acceptance of the new office as Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps. Later, the Colonel Commandant addressed Signal troops, setting out his vision for the future of the regiment. He also took his time off to address all officers who had participated physically in the series of events and all other unit officers virtually through webcasting.

The day’s proceedings concluded after tea and lunch.
