New SLNG Colonel of the Regiment Greeted at Regimental Centre

Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG), Major General Vikum Liyanage who recently took over office of the Commandant Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (­SLAVF) was felicitated when he made his formal maiden visit to the SLNG Regimental Headquarters at Kurunegala on Monday (25) upon assumption of the new office.

On arrival at the main entrance, he was warmly welcomed by Brigadier W M D S K Gunawardhane, Centre Commandant at SLNG Regimental HQ, together with Council members, Commanding Officers and several other Senior Officers. The day’s Chief Guest was greeted to a Guard Turnout at the entrance to the premises soon after his arrival in accordance with military traditions.

The day’s formalities at the SLNG Headquarters added more significance as the visiting Commandant - ­SLAVF was invited to plant a sapling after he was greeted in a Guard of Honour as a gesture of memory. He also took time off to mingle with a cross section of the gathering while sharing a couple of thoughts with them and receiving best wishes.

Subsequently, the Commandant - SLAVF commenced the new solar power generation project construction works and visited the carbonic manure production project at the Regimental HQ SLNG before he joined for refreshments.
