New SLASC Colonel Commandant, Maj Gen Hirosha Wanigasekera Takes Reins

Major General Hirosha Wanigasekera, Master General Ordnance at the Army HQ assumed duties as the 24th Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps (SLASC) on Monday (04) in addition to the incumbent office during a simple ceremony at the SLASC Regimental Headquarters at Panagoda.

The day's event commenced, adhering to military traditions and a warm welcome to the camp where troops of the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps presented a Guard Turnout to the newly-appointed Colonel Commandant on arrival at the entrance.

Afterwards, Major General Hirosha Wanigasekera was ushered to his new office. There he left his signature for an official document to signify the acceptance of the new office amidst the religious blessings.

Subsequently, a colourful Guard of Honour parade saluted the newly-appointed Colonel Commandant before he joined a customary sapling-planting inside the Headquarters premises adding memories.

Later on, the newly-appointed Colonel Commandant, Major General Hirosha Wanigasekera as a formality addressed all ranks in the SLASC before he joined an all rank tea in the camp premises. He succeeded Major General Mahesh Abeyrathna who just retired from the Army.

Senior Officer, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the event.
