Major General M.K Jayawardana RSP VSV USP ndu of the Sri Lanka Engineers assumed office as the new Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu on 09 June during a simple ceremony at the Security Force HQ - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT).
A Guard Turnout plus a subsequent Guard of Honour saluted him soon after he arrived at the premises in accordance with military formalities before he participated in religious observances of the Buddhist faith in the company of Senior Officers.
As members of the Maha Sangha commenced chanting ‘Seth Pirith’ to invoke blessings on his new appointment, Major General M.K Jayawardana RSP VSV USP ndu placed his signature for an official document, signifying the acceptance of his new office.
Setting out his scope of work and duties, Major General M.K Jayawardana RSP VSV USP ndu spoke to the troops as a formality and outlined the importance of working as a team for the prosperity of the country and the promotion of the Army image.
General Officer Commanding of 57, 59, 64,66 and 68 Infantry Divisions, Brigade Commanders, Senior Staff Officers, Staff Officers of the SFHQ - MLT Commanding Officers and Other Ranks participated in the brief inaugural event.
