New Military Secretary Takes Office in Simple Ceremony

Major General Ajith Kolambathantri, hours after his elevation to the rank of Major General was subsequently appointed as the 48th Military Secretary of the Sri Lanka Army by the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva. He assumed office this morning (5) during a brief ceremony. He succeeded Major General Jayashantha Gamage who retired from the service.

On arrival, the newly-appointed Military Secretary signed an official document to signify the acceptance of the new office, amidst 'Pirith' chanting and traditional military formalities at his new office. Several Senior Officers and Officers attended the occasion

Major General Ajith Kolambathantri a product of Thurstan College, Colombo joined the Sri Lanka Army on 22 February 1988 as an Officer Cadet and was commissioned to the Sri Lanka Artillery as a Second Lieutenant on 16 December 1989.

Apart from the unit-line appointments, he has held a number of appointments during his military career including Chief Instructor, Sri Lanka Military Academy, Commander, 571 Brigade and Colonel (Administration), Adjutant General’s Branch, Army Headquarters. Further, Major General Kolambathantri has held key appointments at the Military Secretary’s Branch during his career as Staff Officer 1, Colonel (Military Secretary), Assistant Military Secretary 2 and Assistant Military Secretary. This vastly experienced Senior Officer, who has been mostly involved in human resource management of Officer cadres of the Sri Lanka Army, was eventually designated for this significant appointment.

He has been awarded Rana Wickrama Padakkama (RWP), Rana Sura Padakkama (RSP) and Uththama Seva Padakkama (USP) in recognition of his dedicated services rendered to the country.latest Nike release | Buy online Sneaker for Men
