Major General Sampath Kotuwegoda, the newly-appointed Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi (SF-KLN) assumed office as 15th Commander of the SF-KLN on Sunday (26) amid religious blessings and military formalities.
Soon after his entry into the premises, a formal Guard Turnout greeted the new Kilinochchi Commander at the entrance before he was received by senior Officers and conducted to the parade ground to receive honours in the formal Guard of Honour, presented on his behalf. In accordance with military traditions, the new incoming Kilinochchi Commander from the special dais received the salute afterwards after reviewing the parade with the parade commander.
Symbolically signing a formal document after a while amid religious observances of Buddhist, Catholic, Hindu and Islamic faiths, Major General Sampath Kotuwegoda warmed his new office and received greetings from Senior Staff Officers. Adding memories, he was invited to plant a sapling in connection with the occasion before the day’s gathering posed for group photos with the Commander, Forward Maintenance Area, General Officers Commanding, Brigade Commanders, all under command formation commanders and Other Ranks at the SFHQ-KLN.
After a while, he delivered the customary address to the troops and stated the importance of performing assigned duties with dedication and commitment and promotion of professional skills among all ranks through constant training as soldiers of this proud organization. Further, he also insisted the need for everyone to maintain the highest standards of discipline at all levels and appealed all of them to carry out their duties in an efficient and effective manner.
