Major General Ralph Nugera of Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment assumed office as the new Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi (SF-KLN) at his office in the Security Force Headquarters-Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) on Saturday (10) during a simple ceremony.
A Guard Turnout plus a Guard of Honour, presented by 7 Sri Lanka Light Infantry troops soon after his arrival at the premises greeted him in accordance with military traditions before he participated in religious observances of Buddhist faith after lighting the traditional oil lamp.
A few minutes later, he symbolically signed a formal document to signify the acceptance of his new office before he was invited to leave memories by planting a sandalwood sapling in the camp premises, as has been the practice during an occasion of this nature.
Before this new appointment, he served as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 14 Division in Colombo under the Security Force Headquarters - West as well as the GOC in 12 Division in Hambantota. He also has held a number of key appointments at the Army Headquarters
