New General Officer Commanding of Engineer Division Visits Engineer Brigade & SLSME

The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Sri Lanka Army Engineer Division, Major General Lanka Amarapala made his maiden visit to the Headquarters, General Engineering Brigade at Kachchigala on 22 November 2022.

Brigade Commander of the General Engineering Brigade, Brigadier T.C Peiris warmly received the General Officer Commanding of Sri Lanka Army Engineer Division on his arrival at the main entrance.

In accordance with military formalities, Engineer Brigade troops presented a Guard Turnout to the newly-appointed GOC upon his arrival before he was invited to his new office.

As a gesture of memory, the new GOC was invited to plant a sapling in the camp compound. Afterwards he addressed All Ranks as a formality.

Brigade Commander, General Engineering Brigade, Colonel Project, General Engineering Brigade, Commanding Officers of under-command Regiments, Senior Officers, Officers and a large gathering of Other Ranks participated in the event.

Meanwhile, the newly-appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Sri Lanka Army Engineer Division on 23 November made his first official visit to the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering (SLSME) at Ambilipitiya where he was welcomed and saluted in a formal Guard Turnout at the main entrance.

The Commandant of the SLSME, Colonel Chandana Wickramanayke briefed him on the progress of the development of the SLSME's infrastructure facilities and ongoing courses. He was also invited to plant a red Sandalwood sapling to mark his maiden visit to the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering. Subsequently, he addressed the troops and emphasized the value and significance of the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering to all Sappers as well as the necessity of professional knowledge and development.

During his visit, the GOC inspected the Sappers' Mess, the Main Cook House Complex, and the NVQ Training Centre and the visit culminated with lunch at the Officers ‘Mess.
