New General Officer Commanding, 54 Division Assumes Duties

Major General K.M.P.S.B Kulatunga RSP ndc psc on Thursday (16 Nov) assumed duties as the new General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 54 Infantry Division during a brief ceremony at the 54 Infantry Division Headquarters, Mannar.

In accordance with military traditions, Major General K.M.P.S.B Kulatunga RSP ndc psc upon arrival at the premises reviewed the Guard Turnout. As the first segment of the day’s proceedings, the incoming General Officer Commanding at the monument in the Division Headquarters paid tribute to the memory of fallen War Heroes.

Afterwards, he was invited to take the salute of the Guard of Honour before he arrived at his new office to signify the acceptance of his new responsibilities as the new General Officer Commanding amid members of all religions invoking blessings on him.

Later, he posed for a few group photographs with Senior Officers and Officers serving under the Division Headquarters. Adding memories to the day, he planted a Mango sapling in the 54 Infantry Division Office Complex.

Setting out his scope of work and duties, Major General K.M.P.S.B Kulatunga RSP ndc psc formally addressed all the Officers and Other Ranks serving in the Division and urged them to work with commitment and high standards of discipline.

Towards the end of the programme, he shared a cup of tea with All Ranks. Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were associated with the day’s event.
