New FMA - Central Commander Begins Duties

Major General Sudath Rathnayake of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps assumed duties as the Commander, Forward Maintenance Area- Central (FMA - C) HQ of the Security Force Headquarters - Central in Diyatalawa on 23 August.

The newly-appointed Commander of the Forward Maintenance Area - Central was welcomed by staff officers on arrival at the headquarters.

Amid religious observances and ‘Pirith’ chanting, Major General Sudath Rathnayake placed his signature in an official document to signify the acceptance of the new office. Afterwards, he was invited to plant a mango sapling at the venue to mark the significance of the day.

All Staff Officers, Commanding Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were present during the occasion by adhering to health guidelines.

Major General Sudath Rathnayake was the Commander, FMA - East prior to the present appointment. He succeeded Major General Deepal Hathurusinghe who has recently retired from the Army.
