Major General Dammi Hewage of the Gajaba Regiment assumed office as the 21st Director General Infantry at Directorate of Infantry at the Army Headquarters on Tuesday (21) during a brief ceremony.
After brief religious observances, the newly-appointed Director General Infantry left his signature in an official document, signifying the acceptance of his new office. Prior to this new appointment, he served as the General Officer Commanding of the 61 Division.
Staff Officers of the Directorate and Other Ranks joined the occasion. He succeeds Major General Lal Chandrasiri who has now been appointed as the Commander, Security Forces-East.
