New Dental Surgery Unit at ABH Opened to Service & Police Personnel

The newly-built dental surgery unit at the Palaly Army Base Hospital, a long-felt need for tri-service and Police personnel serving the peninsula, was opened this morning (31) by the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva during a brief ceremony.

The mini dental surgery unit, constructed at a cost of Rs 5 million enables to treat service and Police personnel for dental caries, cavities, cleaning and surgeries with the support of dentists, attached to the ABH in Palaly.

At the entrance to the ABH premises, Major M.S Niyas, Commanding Officer, ABH welcomed the visiting Commander of the Army who was invited to unveil a plaque and inaugurate the much-needed laboratory unit in the hospital. A little later, the Commander had a close look at the new unit and its equipment.

Afterwards, medical officers and dentists at the ABH had a cordial exchange of views during a brief meeting with the visiting Commander before partaking of refreshments. Before his departure, the Commander left his memories in the visitors’ book at the ABH.

Major General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna, Brigadier Nirmal Koswatta, Commander, Forward Maintenance Area (FMA), senior officers and several medical personnel were associated with the occasion.
