The recently-appointed Chief of Staff (COS) of the Sri Lanka Army, Major General Channa Weerasuriya, making his first visit to the East after assumption of his new responsibilities arrived at the Security Force Headquarters-East at Welikanda in order to conduct the final phase of the routine administrative Inspection on Monday (12).
Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi, Commander, Security Forces - East warmly welcomed the COS after he was saluted in a drive-pass, presented by 15 Sri Lanka Light Infantry troops at the entrance to the Headquarters.
During the proceedings of the conference, the Chief of Staff of the Army stressed the importance of conducting an annual administrative inspection to overcome all issues, related to administrative issues in the Army. Later, respective Directors and Staff Officers of different Directorates and Branches accompanying the COS tabled their observations and forwarded laid-down procedures, related to the resolution of such issues.
The General Officers Commanding of respective Divisions, Commander, Forward Maintenance Area Headquarters - East, together with Directors and Staff Officers of the Army Headquarters, Commandant, Combat Training School in Ampara, all Brigade Commanders, Staff Officers of the Security Force Headquarters - East took part in the administrative inspection discussions.
Towards the end of the discussions, the Commander, Security Forces - East symbolized the goodwill by presenting a memento to the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army. Before his departure, he made a complimentary note in the Visitors’ Book at the Security Force Headquarters-East.
