Major General Darshana Wijesekara of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment assumed duties as the new Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu on Thursday (15) during a simple ceremony at the SFHQ - Mullaittivu premises.
At the entrance, the incoming Commander reviewed the Guard Turnout, presented by 14 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops and later on received the salute in the Guard of Honour that followed.
Subsequently, the newly-appointed SF-MLT Commander symbolized the assumption of office by leaving his signature for an official document amidst ‘Pirith’ chanting.
In line with formalities, Major General Darshana Wijesekara planted a sapling and addressed the troops. During the troops address, he urged all to work with dedication and placed his vision before the gathering.
General Officers Commanding of 57, 59, 64 and 68 Divisions, Brigade Commanders, Staff Officers and Other Ranks were there to greet the new Mullaittivu Commander.
He succeeds Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe who has now been appointed as the Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force.
