Major General Lanka Amarapala assumed duties as the Commander of the Engineers Division on Wednesday (12), amidst religious rites and rituals and formal military ceremonials at the Engineers Division Headquarters, Home of Sappers at Mattegoda.
The new Commander, Sri Lanka Army Engineer Division, was received at the entrance by the Colonel Admin and Quartering of the Engineer Division. Thereafter, the incoming Engineer Division Commander reviewed the Guard Turnout and was subsequently honoured in a Guard of Honour. The new Commander, Engineer Division was ushered to the saluting dais by Colonel General Staff to receive the salute.
As members of the Maha Sangha commenced chanting 'Seth Pirith', Major General Lanka Amarapala, placed his signature in an official document, symbolizing the formal acceptance of his office. Subsequently, the new Commander was invited for a group photograph followed by planting of a sapling in the compound.
Afterwards, he addressed the officers and other ranks, highlighting his scope of work and duties in the days to come. He further expressed his gratitude to his predecessors for their tireless efforts for the efficiency of the Engineer Division.
The day's activities concluded with an interaction session with Senior Officers, Officers, and other Ranks at tea.
Brigade Commanders, Regimental Centre Commandant, Commandant of Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering, Commanding Officers, Division Staffs, and other Ranks attend the occasion.
