Brigadier Manatha Yahampath of Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) assumed duties as the 3rd Commandant of the Army War College at Buttala on Monday (18).
The new Commandant was accorded a Guard Turnout on his arrival and was warmly received by the Deputy Commandant with other senior officers. Subsequently, the formal procedure of assuming duties with the signing of a document afterwards marked the acceptance of his new office amidst religious observances.
Soon after assuming duties, the Commandant planted a ‘Naa’ sapling in the College premises before he addressed the troops at the main auditorium where he was briefed by key appointment holders on functions of the College.
He succeeded Major General Laksiri Perera, who recently retired from the Army.
