Just a few hours after the Military Secretariat announced the appointment of the new Chief of Staff in the Army, Major General Priyantha Perera was invited to receive his appointment letter from the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva at the Commander's office Thursday (15) afternoon.
General Shavendra Silva after extending his best wishes on Major General Priyantha Perera's elevation to the new office exchanged a few thoughts about the organization’s ‘Way Forward Strategy 2020-2025’ and how certain structural provisions could be improved further with special focus on Officer training matters n career progression.
Towards the end of the brief meet, the Army Chief handed over the letter of his new appointment.
Major General Priyantha Perera was the Commander, Security Forces, Jaffna before he was appointed as the 58th Chief of Staff of the Army. (See separate story)
