New CES Colonel Commandant Takes over Duties

Major General A.H.L.G Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc assumed duties as the new Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Engineer Services (CES) on 24 August, amidst religious blessings at the Regimental Headquarters, Corps of Engineer Services at Panagoda.

The incoming Colonel Commandant was warmly received by the Centre Commandant, CES Colonel Y.K.S Rangika psc ptsc at the main entrance of the Corps of Engineer Services Regimental Headquarters upon his arrival after he was saluted in a Guard Turnout.

Next, he paid tribute to the memory of fallen CES War Heroes at the monument laying a floral wreath. Thereafter, in accordance with military traditions, the incoming Colonel Commandant was invited to review the Guard of Honour and receive the salute.

Minutes later, amidst chanting of 'Seth Pirith', the newly-appointed Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Engineer Services placed his signature for an official document, symbolizing the formal acceptance of his new office. Subsequently, a group photograph at the entrance to the Regimental Centre added memories. He also planted a Mango sapling in the compound to mark the occasion.

Practising a customary feature, Major General A.H.L.G Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc after a while addressed Officers and Other Ranks, highlighting his planned scope of work and duties in the days to come.

At the end of the day's proceedings, the new Colonel Commandant shared a few thoughts with the troops during an All Rank tea.
