New Central Commander Familiarizes with his Area Responsibilities

The recently - appointed Commander, Security Forces - Central, Major General Mohan Rathnayake commenced visits to Army formations in his area of responsibility and called at the 11 Infantry Division Headquarters on Friday (02) as a formality.

Major General Kalpa Sanjeewa, General Officer Commanding, 11 Infantry Division extended a warm welcome to the SF Commander on arrival after a drive- past, Guard Turnout greeted him.

Major General Kalpa Sanjeewa at first made a presentation of his Division’s role and tasks and responsibilities to the visiting Central Commander. As a formality, he addressed the troops and set out his vision for the troops in future. Before his exit from the 11 Infantry Division HQ, he left memories by posing for group photos and leaving compliments in the Visitor’s Book.

Prior to his arrival at the 11 Infantry Division, the new Central Commander visited the construction site of the new Army Base Hospital at Pallekele and closely watched its final touches, together with the 11 Infantry Division’s General Officer Commanding and several Senior Officers. After a while, he called at the 5 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) Regiment camp, situated in Pallekele and met troops serving there. The Commanding Officer 5 (V) SLLI received the visiting Central Commander.

The Central Commander on the following day (03) visited the 4 Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment camp at Kiralagolla, Dambulla where Major General Sugath Rathnayake, Commander Forward Maintenance Area-Central received him at the location. A Guard Turnout saluted him on arrival. He also toured the area and exchanged views with troops serving the detachments at Ukuwela, Bowathenna and Moragahakanda hydro power plants.

Brigadier Rohitha Rathnayake, Commander 111 Infantry Brigade and the Divisional staff of 11 Infantry Division were also associated with the Central Commander’s itinerary.
