A NEW BUS service that covers Kalmadu, Palaisundarapuram, Kidavur, Ichchankulam, Tharanikulam, Pudukulam rural area and terminates at Vavuniya commenced its maiden journey recently after a brief ceremony organized by 611 Brigade under Security Forces Headquarters, Wanni.
Using three two-door buses, provided by Sri Lanka Transport Board in response to discussions held with Ministry of Transport, the new service became a reality, thanks to the efforts of Lieutenant Colonel P M C K B Ekanayake, Brigade Commander, 611 Brigade.
The new bus service will shuttle between Vavuniya and other destinations every day between 6.00 a.m. and 9.00 p.m.
The simple ceremony in connection with the inauguration of the new bus service, headed by Brigadier A.W. M. A. W. N Ranawana, General Officer Commanding, 61 Division took place a few days ago, attended by a large number of civilians, military officers and soldiers. Several officials from Sri Lanka Transport Board also took part in the brief ceremony.
