The maiden copy of the new book, ‘Mihidan Nowu Minisa’ (The unburied man), authored by Brigadier W.A.S.R Wijedasa WWV RSP USP ndc psc was presented to General Kamal Gunaratne (Rtd) WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc MPhil, Secretary to the Ministry of Defence who attended as the Chief Guest on Saturday (28 September) during a brief event at Sri Lanka Armoured Corps Regimental Center, Modara.
The ceremony preceded a lecture on ‘motivation’, delivered by Mrs. Ama Dissanayake, a reputed lecturer. The former Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Dr. W.A. Wijewardena afterwards delivered the keynote address. Afterwards, Brigadier W.A.S.R Wijedasa WWV RSP USP ndc psc the author of the book presented the maiden copy ‘Mihidan Nowu Minisa’ to the day’s Chief Guest.
In his brief address to the occasion, Secretary to the Ministry of Defence stated that he was proud of Brigadier W.A.S.R Wijedasa WWV RSP USP ndc psc and urged him to write more and more books on the experiences he underwent during humanitarian operations. Towards the end, Brigadier W.A.S.R Wijedasa WWV RSP USP ndc psc delivered the vote of thanks.
General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, Chief of Defence Staff, serving and retired Tri- Service Senior Officers, Mrs Lali Kobbakaduwa, the spouse of late Lieutenant General Denzil Kobbakaduwa and Mrs Ruchi Wijayadasa the spouse of Brigadier W.A.S.R Wijedasa WWV RSP USP ndc psc also participated in the book launch.
The author of the book, Brigadier W.A.S.R Wijedasa WWV RSP USP ndc psc who had graduated from the Army Command and Staff College, Sri Lanka in 2005 had also read for two Masters’ degrees inclusive of Human Resources Management from the University of Colombo and a Masters’ in International and European Security from the University of Geneva in Switzerland. He is a recipient of Weera Wickrama Vibushanaya and Rana Shura Paddakkama for his highest bravery acts and gallantry in the fight against terrorists. He also has Uththama Seva Paddakkama for his unblemished military career. This Senior Officer has already authored two books namely, ‘The Unburied Tanker’ and ‘Be an Officer and a Gentleman’.
