Major General Chandana Wickramasinghe on Wednesday (20) assumed office as the new Adjutant General (AG) of the Sri Lanka Army during a brief ceremony.
On arrival at the new office, the new Adjutant General signed an official document to signify the acceptance of new responsibilities, amid 'Pirith' chanting. Several Senior Officers and Officers attended the occasion. Prior to his new appointment, he was serving as the Military Secretary at the Army HQ.
After completion of his basic military training at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) (Regular Intake 87) and Sri Lanka Military Academy (Intake 31), he received his graduation as a commissioned officer in the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, and was subsequently posted as an Infantry Officer in the Gajaba Regiment of the Sri Lanka Army.
He held the office of the General Officer Commanding, 51 Division, Military Secretary and a number of senior appointments, including the Dean of the Faculty of Defence and Strategic Studies at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) before he was appointed as the Adjutant General.
He also served the office of Director Media for Ministry of Defence, Director Media Army Headquarters cum Military Spokesman.
