New 582 Brigade Commander Assumes Office

Colonel Kavinda Balasuriya assumed duties as the 10th Commander of the 582 Brigade, amid religious blessings at the Headquarters in Horana on Thursday (29).

The newly-appointed Commander of the 532 Brigade was warmly welcomed by Staff Officers and honoured in a Guard Turnout, presented by the troops of the 1 Battalion of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry. Colonel Kavinda Balasuriya placed his signature in an official document to mark his assumption of duties, amidst religious observances in the presence of Senior Officers. Later on, he was invited to plant a sapling as a gesture of memory.

An All Rank tea and the formal address to the Officers and Other Ranks culminated the day’s proceedings, Commanding Officers, Brigade staff and Other Rankers were present on the occasion.
