Brigadier Senarath Bandara on Friday (6) assumed duties as the new General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 54 Division in Mannar during a simple ceremony.
He is the 7th GOC of the 54 Division Headquarters of the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni.
A formal Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour saluted the new GOC, 54 Division, upon his arrival at the 54 Division Headquarters premises in keeping with military traditions.
Afterwards, amid religious blessings he placed his signature for an official document and symbolized the acceptance of his new office. Later, he planted a mango sapling in the 54 Division premises as a symbol of memory of the occasion.
