Needy Students in Mannar Given Christmas Gifts & School Accessories

Mannar-based 54 Division troops of the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) in close collaboration with the generous sponsorship provided by the General Manager Communication and Sustainable Development of 'Hemas Lanka PLC' and Executive Director of Hemas Outreach Foundation, Mrs Shiromi Masakorala on Wednesday (19) gave away a large stock of essential school accessories and gifts to needy children in the remote Illuppakadawal village, near Manthai West, Mannar during a brief arrangement at St Peter's Church, Kalladi.

Commander, Security Forces - Wanni (SF-W), Major General Kumudu Perera as the Chief Guest, together with Mrs Shiromi Masakorala, Mr Mark of Hemas Outreach, 54 Division General Officer Commanding, Brigadier Senarath Bandara and senior Officers took part in the programme as distinguished guests. The parish priest at St Peter's Church, Kalladi, Fr Belan Crooz and Sister Jeyawathi were also present as religious dignitaries.

Highlighting the true spirits of the festive season, a stock of Christmas gifts were also distributed during the same occasion. The event was grandly organized on account of the upcoming Christmas festival including a concert and Carols, performed by both students at St Peter's Piyawara pre-school and Army troops of the 54 Division.

The happiness of kids was obvious all over their faces and it was a memorable event for the children and parents in this festive season.
