Multifaceted Community Projects Help Civilians in East

The ‘Colombo Friend in Need Society’ at the request of the 22 Infantry Division on Saturday (29 April) during a multifaceted community project launched at the Divisional Secretariat Office conducted a mobile medical clinic, provided free spectacles and artificial limbs to the value of Rs. 3.5 million, following arrangements, made by troops of the 5 (V) Sri Lanka Artillery and 24 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment of the 222 Infantry Brigade under the 22 Infantry Division of the Security Force HQ- East.

Accordingly, more than 250 people of Tamil, Muslim and Sinhala ethnicities of low-income families in Seruwavila and Kantale areas received medicines and consultations during the mobile health clinic. During the arrangement, 252 free spectacles and 27 artificial limbs were also shared among deserving civilians. The diabetic clinic, held in the same premises was consulted by more than 100 people.

During the project, four artificial limbs were also shared among differently able War Heroes resident in the area.

Major General S.B Amunugama RWP RSP ndu General Officer Commanding, 22 Infantry Division attended those projects as the Chief Guest, together with Mr. S.M.S Bandra, the Project Manager of Colombo Friend in Need Society and Brigadier Saliya Dias RSP, Brigade Commander, 222 Infantry Brigade.

Lieutenant Colonel Priyantha Wekadapola Commanding Officer, 5 (V) Sri Lanka Artillery and Major Roshan Erawwala, Commanding Officer, 24 Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment made all necessary arrangements for conduct of those community-oriented projects.

Major General S.R.K Hettiarachchi RWP RSP USP ndu psc, Commander, Security Forces -East gave his blessings to the project.
