Mullaittivu & East Troops Prioritize Community Projects on Army Day

The Security Force Headquarters Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) on account of the 68th Army anniversary launched several community-oriented projects including the cleaning up of sideways along Vattappalai Main road and a mega Dengue control drive in the area during October 7-10 under the guidance of the Commander, SF- MLT Major General Dushyantha Rajaguru.

Both ‘Shramadana ’ programmes took place throughout Saturday (7) with the participation of many soldiers, including Officers.

On the Army Day (10), hoisting of the Army flag, recital of the Army song and reading of the Commander’s message to all ranks dominated the agenda, followed by a tree-planting programme inside the camp.

SFHQ-MLT troops also provided sweetmeats and snacks to a group of civilians who were on a protest on the same day close to the camp. An All Rank tea table followed by an evening Bodhi Pooja at the shrine inside the Headquarters premises brought the anniversary arrangements to a close.

Meanwhile, the Security Force Headquarters-East (SFHQ-E) contributing to the commemoration of the Army Day gave priority to community projects on the instructions of the Commander SFHQ-E, Major General Nandana Senadeera.

50 soldiers on Monday (9) joined hands together and cleaned up the Welikanda Base Hospital and its surroundings and breeding places for mosquitoes.

Hoisting of the Army Flag, reading of the Commander’s message and an All Rank tea table marked the culmination of anniversary events. Brigadier General Staff and all other Officers and Other Ranks serving in the Headquarters took part in those programmes.
