Major General Darshana Wijesekara, Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu undertook a familiarization visit to the 66 Infantry Division and the area of responsibility on Monday (Jan 16).
Brigadier Nalin Jayawardena, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 66 Infantry Division warmly welcomed the Chief Guest, who was greeted with a drive pass Guard Turnout by 66 Division troops.
Afterwards, he was invited to pose for a group photograph and plant a mango sapling as a symbol of memory before he received a comprehensive briefing, presented by the GOC and respective Brigade Commanders.
He commenced the visit in the area at first by inspecting the 66 Infantry Division HQ and Pallikuda, Mandagalaru, Pallawarayankaddu and Sangupiddi roadblocks before he reached the end at Kumar Point, just after addressing the Divisional troops at the Division HQ premises.
Meanwhile, Major General Darshana Wijesekara, Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu undertook familiarization visits to the 57 Infantry Division and its areas of responsibility during 16-18 January.
Major General Chandimal Peiris, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 57 Infantry Division warmly welcomed the visiting Mullaittivu Commander after presenting a salute in the Guard Turnout at the entrance.
During his formal troop address, he emphasized his vision and educated the troops on their discipline and responsibilities while underlining the importance of sustained training.
Afterwards, he posed for a group photograph and planted a mango sapling as a symbol of memory before he received a comprehensive briefing, presented by the GOC and respective Brigade Commanders serving under the 57 Infantry Division.
After the end of day’s event at the 57 Infantry Division Headquarters, the Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu visited the 57 Division’s Battalion Training School, Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps camp at Kokavil and the 6 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment camp.
Meanwhile, Major General Darshana Wijesekara, Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu on Thursday (20) undertook a familiarization visit to the 64 Infantry Division
Major General Nissanka Eriyagama, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 64 Infantry Division warmly welcomed the Chief Guest, who was greeted in a Guard Turnout.
Afterwards, the General Officer Commanding, 64 Division delivered a comprehensive brief on the specific role and tasks of the Division to Major General Darshana Wijesekara before the visiting Commander addressed the troops.
He also sat for group photographs and planted a mango sapling in the compound as a symbol of memory.
