Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe, the recently-appointed Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu made formal visits to the 66 Division Headquarters in Pooneryn and its under command Brigades and Units during 12 - 13 November after he assumed office as the MLT Commander.
The visiting Commander SF-MLT was greeted to a Guard Turnout, presented by 20 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry troops at the entrance to the 66 Division HQ before he was warmly welcomed by the General Officer Commanding, 66 Division, Major General Lasantha Rodrigo. Afterwards, he presented a briefing on the role and the tasks of the Division HQ to the visiting Mullaittivu Commander.
During the visit to the 66 Division HQ, Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe addressed the troops and left memories by planting saplings and posing for group photographs with all Brigade Commanders and Commanding Officers under the 66 Division.
Thereafter, he visited the 661 Brigade HQ in the nearby area and was welcomed by the Commander 661 Brigade, Brigadier Deeptha Ariyasena. In addition, he also visited the 662 Brigade HQ where he was received by the Commander 662 Brigade, Brigadier Suminda Dayawansa. He also had the opportunity of calling at the 663 Brigade HQ to be welcomed by the Commander 663 Brigade, Brigadier Priyanjith Hennadige.
As the final segment of his two-day long visit, he also took time off to arrive at the 5 (V) Mechanized Infantry Regiment Headquarters, 20 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment camp and the 'Corporal Gamini Kularathne' monument at Elephant Pass.
Meanwhile, Commander, SF Mullaittivu made an official visit to the 64 Division on Tuesday (16) and received a comprehensive briefing on role and tasks in their area of responsibility.
The Commander was warmly welcomed by the General Officer Commanding, 64 Division, Major General Upul Weerakoon and was invited to plant a sapling in the Division HQ premises as a token of memory.
The visiting Security Forces Commander addressed Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and troops of the 64 Division HQ and had a close look at the camp premises and facilities of the troops, adhering to health guidelines.
Similarly, on Friday (19), he made a formal call at the 68 Division HQ and received an update on the role and tasks of the Division under the SFHQ-MLT.
The visiting Commander SF-MLT was warmly welcomed by the General Officer Commanding, 68 Division, Major General Keerthi Bandara on arrival at the location. Afterwards, he presented a general briefing on the role and tasks of the Division HQ to the visiting Mullaittivu Commander.
During the visit to the 68 Division HQ, Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe addressed the troops and left memories by planting a sapling at the venue. Several senior civilians in the 682 Brigade area where he previously served called at the 682 Brigade HQ at the same time and extended greetings to him, appreciating his community services when he was the Brigade Commander.
Thereafter, he also visited the 681 Brigade HQ in the nearby area and was welcomed by the 681 Brigade Commander. He also addressed the 681 Brigade troops.
Few Senior Officers of Security Forces - Mullaittivu and Staff Officers of 68 Division joined the visits.
