20 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (20 SLLI) troops of the 662 Infantry Brigade and the 66 Infantry Division under the Security Force HQ-Mullaittivu (SF-MLT) with the assistance of 20 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) troops and the staff at Kilinochchi District Hospital conducted a community programme to distribute free spectacles for needy locals at Mukkampan area in Kilinochchi on Thursday (Feb 16) at the 20 SLLI camp premises.
This was made possible with the kind patronage offered by a group of philanthropists, Mr Y.G Jagath Kumara and his friends through the coordination of Colonel Prasanna Karunanayake, Commander, 662 Infantry Brigade.
Lieutenant Colonel R.S.K Rathnayake, Commanding Officer, 20 SLLI initiated the project under the guidance of Major General Darshana Wijesekera, Commander, Security Forces-MLT and Major General Nalin Jayawardena, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 66 Infantry Division.
The Commander, SF-MLT graced the distributing ceremony as the Chief Guest while the GOC, 66 Infantry Division, Commander, 662 Infantry Brigade, Commander, 663 Infantry Brigade, Senior Officers, Dr Sugandan, Medical Director, District Hospital, Kilinochchi, Mr T Akalan, Divisional Secretary, Pooneryn, Mr L Sathyaseelan, Principal, Munkampan Vidyalaya, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the event.
