MSTS Inaugurates its Newly-constructed 500 m Sniper Range

Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army on the invitation of Major General W.P Kariyawasam, Commandant, Marksmanship Sniper Training School (MSTS) inaugurated the newly-constructed 500 m-long sniper fairing range at the MSTS on Sunday (17 Dec) afternoon.

The Commandant, MSTS after a warm welcome to the Army Chief invited him to declare open the new firing range by firing the first round.

Next, the Commander of the Army, together with other Senior Officers had a close view of the entire perimeter of the firing range. Later on, the Commander of the Army was invited to leave memories by planting a sapling in the camp premises. A customary All Rank tea plus the presentation of a memento to the day’s Chief Guest brought the proceedings to an end.

The Army Chief also awarded a memento to the MSTS Commandant and noted a few compliments in the MSTS visitors’ book. The firing range coordinating office of the MSTS, set up at the same location was also opened.

Major General W.H.K.S Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndu, Chief of staff, Major General S.P.A.I.M.B Samarakoon Hdmc Lsc, Deputy Chief of Staff, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the day’s event.
