The Passing out Parades (PoP) of the Physical Training Instructor Course for Officers- No: 15, Advanced Physical Training Instructor Course -No: 45 and the Assistant Physical Training Instructor Course-No: 128 of the Army Physical Training Centre (APTC) got under way at Panagoda Army Indoor Stadium on Monday (08 May).
Major General D.M.K.D.B Pussella RWP RSP, Commander, Security Forces-West and Colonel of the Regiment, Mechanized Infantry Regiment graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
At the invitation of Colonel K.A.D.C.R Kannangara RSP, Commandant, Army Physical Training Centre (APTC) distributed certificates and awards to course participants, together with a few Senior Officers present there.
10 Officers followed the 77 day-long Officers’ Physical Training Instructor Course No:15. Lieutenant J.V.A.K Pradeep of Commando Regiment secured the 1st place in order of merit as the Best Student of the course and Captain W.M.I.L Abeyratna of Mechanized Infantry Regiment received the award as the Best Gymnast and the Best Endurance of Officers' Physical Training Instructor Course.
18 Other Ranks meanwhile followed the Advanced Physical Training Instructor Course No-45 which was conducted for 65 days. Lance Corporal P.M.P.N Munasingha of Commando Regiment secured the 1st in order of merit as the Best Student of the course, Private A.K.M.R Hettiarachchi of Sri Lanka National Guard received the award as the Best Gymnast and the Best Endurance of the Course, Private K.M.P Madusara of Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps was adjudged the 1st in order of merit as the Best Female Student of the course and Corporal M.K.C.G Lalindra of Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps was awarded as the Best Section Command in the Advanced Physical Training Instructor Course.
Similarly, 153 Other Ranks in the 63-day long Course qualified as Assistant Physical Training Instructors in the Course No-128. Lance Corporal H.M.S.N Senevirathne secured the 1st in order of merit as the Best Male Student of the course, Infantryman R.P.S.D Rajapaksha of Gajaba Regiment received the award as the Best Gymnast of the Course, Infantryman A.M.J Aththanayake of Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) was awarded as the Best Endurance of the Course, Private T.M.N.G.T Kumari of the Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps secured the 1st in order of merit as the Best Female Student of the Course. Lance Corporal R.M.R.C Rathnayaka of Vijayabahu infantry Regiment received the award as the Best Section Command in the Assistant Physical Training Instructor Course.
Major General D.M.K.D.B Pussella RWP RSP on arrival at the gymnasium was invited to the awarding ceremony by the APTC Commandant. Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks witnessed the awarding ceremony.
