In line with the government’s ongoing distribution of land among Tamil people, 56 Division Headquarters assisted a government-sponsored resettlement programme where 106 families were allotted each with 40 perches in Agbopura area during a ceremony on August 30.
The ceremony organized under the patronage of Ven Etambagaskada Kalyanatissa Nayake Thero, Deputy Chief Sanganayake of the Northern Province, saw Major General (Retd) G.A. Chandrasiri, Governor for Northern Province, attending the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Ten of those families were given away tin sheets for roof thatching on the same occasion before the ceremony was over.
