More Elegant Decorations Added to ‘Vesak’ Splendour

Army troops on Thursday (11) added some more elaborate Vesak decorations to the ‘Sri Buddha Rashmi’ National Vesak Zone at Gangaramaya, Hunupitiya, Diyawanna Vesak Zone near the Parliament grounds and other arrangements elsewhere across the country.

Troops of the Security Force Headquarters - West (SFHQ-West), contributing to the second day of the National Vesak festival on Thursday (11), put up an additional stock of colourful Vesak lanterns inside the ‘Sri Buddha Rashmi’ National Vesak Zone and the Diyawanna Vesak Zone before a galaxy of foreign and local dignitaries inaugurated those zones Thursday (11) evening.

The SFHQ-West as well as all other SFHQs across the country has been offering their maximum support to the successful conduct of this year’s National Vesak festival on a grand scale under the close supervision of the Commander of the Army and respective Commanding Officers at all levels. Vesak lanterns, crafted by troops at all Regimental levels are also on display in those Vesak Zones.

Full-day ‘Sil’ observance programmes, separate Vesak decorations, conduct of Vesak concerts of devotional songs and ‘Dansel’ (free eateries), distribution of essentials among the most deserving civilians, release of cattle to farming communities, etc are among those Vesak features, now underway at provincial levels across the country.

Respective Vesak arrangements will continue for the consecutive third day on Friday (12) at all SFHQ levels.
