18 Gemunu Watch troops of the 121 Brigade and 12 Division under the Security Forces-Central on Thursday (8) raided a Cannabis (Ganja) cultivation in the general area of Kebilitta-Moneragala areas and destroyed the cultivation.
The illegal crop cultivation to the value of about Rs 10 m, grown in about one acre of land has been done secretly inside jungle areas. Troops pulled out all plants and destroyed all including dried Cannabis of about 200 kg. A few days ago, troops destroyed Cannabis cultivations in Thanamalwila and Hambegamuwa areas too.
On the guidelines given by Major General Prasanna Ranawaka, General Officer Commanding 12 Division, Brigadier Udaya Serasinghe 121 Brigade Commander instructed his troops to swoop on this illegal cultivation.
