More than 300 Soldiers Give Blood to NCP Hospitals

A blood donation programme to provide blood to the patients in the North Central Province got underway at the Security Force Headquarters-Wanni (SFHQ-W) on Wednesday (23) as a response to a request, made by the Consultant Transfusion Physician of Blood Bank at Anuradhapura General Hospital.

Promptly taking necessary actions, Major General Jagath Gunawardene, Commander, Security Forces-Wanni instructed his troops to immediately organize this donation on a priority basis since lives of some of those patients are at risk due to shortage of necessary blood in respective hospitals.

The arrangement kept in place within 12 hours saw more than 300 troops representing all under command formations of the SFHQ-W give blood to the Bank voluntarily in order to supplement the stocks.
