More Than 100 Troops of 511 Infantry Brigade Help Jaffna Patients Giving Blood

More than 100 Army Officers and Other Ranks of the 15 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) troops of the 511 Infantry Brigade under the 51 Infantry Division of the Security Force HQ-Jaffna on Tuesday (20) were generous enough to donate blood to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital Blood Bank for the benefit of seriously ill patients at this hospital.

As part of their community-oriented Civil-Military Co-operation (CIMIC) projects, the blood donation drive was launched on an initiative of the 511 Infantry Brigade Commander, Brigadier Jude Fernando with the blessings of the General Officer Commanding of the 51 Infantry Division and the Security Force HQ-Jaffna.

The blood donation took place at the MOH premises in Kopay and more than 100 Officers, Other Ranks and the Civil Staff in the 511 Infantry Brigade and the 51 Infantry Division came forward to support the project in order to replenish the declining blood stocks at Jaffna Teaching Hospital.

Pradeepan, Blood Bank Branch of Jaffna, Mr.T. Ravinadas, Public Health Inspector, Blood Bank Branch of Jaffna, Major A.D.S.D Athukorala, Commanding Officer of the 15 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG), together with senior military and civil officials were present at the occasion.
