Major General Sisira Pilapitiya, Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu (SF-MLT), made his maiden field visit to the 66 Division Headquarters, its under command Brigades and Battalions on Saturday (7).
The Security Forces Commander was accorded a drive-past Guard Turnout salute at the main entrance of the Division Headquarters by the troops of 24 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment. The visiting commander planted a sapling in front of the office complex to mark his maiden visit and then posed for a group photograph.
Then the General Officer Commanding Maj Gen Ajith Dissanayake conducted a comprehensive briefing on the role and tasks in the area of responsibilities under the 66 Division. The Security Forces Commander afterwards addressed the Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and troops of the 66 Infantry Division.
Later on, the Security Force Commander visited the northern boundary of the Division including Sangupiddy Area, drive through HQ 24 VIR camp and visited Comma point. Further, he visited the newly-opened 720 Composite Sqn and drove through the 661 Brigade Headquarters to the Southern boundary. After visiting the Nachchikuda area, he inspected the recently-inaugurated Multi Chopper Machine for manufacture of Organic Fertilizer (Compost) at the 66 Brigade complex and drove through the Battalion Training School at Arsapurakulam and the 5 (V) Mechanized Infantry Regiment camp.
Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and troops of the 66 Division were present during those visits and programmes.
