'Mitra Shakthi' Has a Day of Recreation

Both contingents of the Sri Lanka Army and the Indian Army engaged in a Battle Obstacle Course as a team competition in the ongoing exercise 'Mitra Shakthi' were categorized into 10 teams, each comprised of nine personnel mixed with both contingent.

As the next session of the programme, they listened to a lecture and witnessed a demonstration on Raid of a terrorist hide conducted by Commando troops.

Then, the trainees witnessed a Demonstration on Engagement and Disengagement drills given by Commando troops after which the trainees exhibited their understanding through the performance in the ground of practical involvement.

The same evening, both contingent were divided into four teams and they played Cricket and Volley Ball. During the matches the following players were selected as best sports men in each events of both contingent.

Sri Lankan players with best performances are as follows:

Best Batsmen - Lance Corporal P.H.A.R Chandimal

Best Bowler - Major K.A.A.K Karunarathne

Best Setter - Corporal K.D.J.P Nishantha

Best Dasher - Lance Corporal S.V.M.D.R Semasinghe

Indian players who excelled in performances are as follows;

Best Batsmen - Riflemen Dushantha Singh

Best Bowler - Riflemen Rajh Singh

Best Setter - Lance Naik Mekh Bahabur Thapa

Best Dasher - Riflemen Ibrahim Khan

The recreation session concluded with award of prices for the best players.

On Tuesday (01), both the contingents were accompanied on a pilgrimage to Koneshwaran Hindu Kovil at Trincomalee enabling them to make offerings. In Trincomalee, the visiting contingents witnessed a demonstration of Special Boats Squadron at Trincomalee Naval Base and they visited Trinco Naval Base including the Museum, Mable Beach and Kinniya Bridge. They were treated to lunch organized by 221 Brigade at Mabel Beach.
