MIR Training Centre Gets More Teeth for Training

The newly-constructed Small Arms Simulator System, Open Air Theatre and the Medical Inspection Room of the Mechanized Infantry Training Centre (MITC) at Menikfarm, Settikulam were vested in the Mechanized Infantry Regiment (MIR) troops on 04 December 2021 during a brief ceremony by Major General Priyanka Fernando, Colonel of the Regiment, MIR at the invitation of the Commandant, Colonel Koshina Peiris.

The Small Arms Simulator System gives real firing experience of the field without being in the field and is less costly saving a fair amount of time. The Simulator System is an invention of the Centre for Defence Research and Development.

Further, the Open Air Theatre is one of its best amenities for all ranks as it could be used for multi purposes. Moreover, the Medical Inspection Room remained a much-needed facility for the Training Centre for a long time.

The Centre for Defence Research and Development, Army Headquarters, Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre and all Mechanized Infantry Battalions contributed immensely and troops attached to the Mechanized Infantry Training Centre contributed in numerous ways, mainly through their technically-skilled manpower.

The simple ceremony took place in keeping with health guidelines in the presence of several MIR council members and Commanding Officers.
