MIR Salutes Its Retiring Senior Officer

The Mechanized Infantry Regimental (MIR) Headquarters bade farewell to one of the MIR’s Senior Officers Major General Janaka Priyadarshana, on the eve of his retirement after inviting him to the regimental headquarters during 5 - 6 December.

The Chief Guest was warmly welcomed by Brigadier Kavinda Balasooriya, Commander, Mechanized Infantry Brigade together with Brigadier Anura Abeysinghe, Centre Commandant - MIR.

The itinerary of the farewell ceremony started with a colorful Guard Turnout at the entrance to the MIR Regimental Centre after the arrival of the day’s Chief Guest.

Later on, he saluted the memory of fallen MIR War Heroes at the MIR war memorial after placing a floral wreath. The day’s ceremony reached its apex when the troops presented a smart Guard of Honour to the retiring Senior Officer.

A street line salute on the following day (6) brought the farewell ceremony to an end.
