MIR Completes One House Out of Planned Five

Using local raw materials, the Mechanized Infantry Regiment (MIR) troops on conceptual guidance of the Colonel of the Regiment, Major General Channa Weerasuriya, Deputy Chief of Staff has embarked on a project to build five new houses to deserving MIR soldiers with the support of the MIR Seva Vanitha Unit.

On 21 August 2022, the first house to an infantryman in the 4th Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiment saw its fruition at Rasnayakapura, Nikaweratiya which was ceremonially vested in the family after symbolically delivering keys to the new house. The financial assistance was provided jointly by the Mechanized Infantry Regimental Seva Vanitha Unit and the 4th Battalion Mechanized Infantry.

Major General Channa Weerasooriya graced the occasion as chief guest. The Centre Commandant, Brigadier Anura Abeysingh, Commanding Officer 4th Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel RASR Ranasinghe along with other Senior Officers Staff Officers participated in the warming ceremony.
