MIR’s ‘House Construction Project’ Offers One More New House

The third new house constructed in Munwatta, Walapane under the Mechanized Infantry Regiment's (MIR) 'House Construction' project for Other Ranks was vested in the beneficiary on Wednesday (2) during a house-warming ceremony.

The MIR on a conceptual notion proposed by Major General Channa Weerasuriya, Colonel of the Regiment, MIR and Deputy Chief of Staff launched this house construction project for deserving Other Ranks in the Regiment in collaboration with the MIR Seva Vanitha Branch several weeks ago under five phases. Two houses out of projected five houses for soldiers in 5 MIR battalions were constructed earlier and vested in the beneficiaries under the same project.

Major General Udaya Herath, General Officer Commanding, 53 Division on Wednesday (02) on behalf of the Colonel of the Regiment as the Chief Guest attended the auspicious warming of this new house for a Staff Sergeant. Financial assistance was provided jointly by the MIR Seva Vanitha Branch and 3 MIR battalion.

The Centre Commandant, Brigadier Anura Abeysinghe, Commanding Officer 3 Mechanized Infantry Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel M. T. P Muhandiramge along with other Senior Officers/Staff Officers were present at the house-warming.
