Minister Receives Updates on Army Projects from Jaffna Commander

Commander Security Forces - Jaffna, Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya on Saturday (21) briefed the visiting Hon Minister of Community Empowerment and Estate Infrastructure Development, Mr Arumugam Thondaman on the progress of Army-initiated reconciliation moves and ongoing community-oriented welfare projects in the peninsular when the latter made a courtesy visit to the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna during a tour to the North.

The meeting focused on the present progress of Reconciliation and Resettlement work, including land issues and the status-quo regarding Welfare Centers in the Jaffna peninsula. Further, the Minister and his staff received a briefing on the Army social welfare projects and assistance to the civil community in the peninsula.

Secretary, State Secretary and Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Community Empowerment and Estate Infrastructure Development, District Secretary for Jaffna, Director (Development), Director (Planning), Additional District Secretary for Jaffna, Divisional Secretary for Tellippalai and a few senior Army officers were also associated with the meeting.
