Troops of the 58 Division HQ in Puttalam upon arrival of their newly-promoted General Officer Commanding, Major General Wipula Ihalage after receipt of new insignia from the Army Chief at the HQ premises presented honours and greeted him in accordance with military traditions on 24 August.
Troops of the 6 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment presented a Guard Turnout salute at the entrance and a Guard of Honour afterwards during formalities.
Major General Wipula Ihalage afterwards addressed his troops at the 58 Division and joined an all-rank tea to mark the end of the day’s proceedings.
Brigade Commanders of under command Brigades, Staff Officers of the 58 Division, Commanding Officers, Officers and Other Ranks attended the felicitation ceremony, adhering to health guidelines.
