Major General Duminda Sirinaga of the Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineer (SLEME), the newly appointed Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS) assumed office on Thursday (1).
He signed an official document symbolizing the assumption of office during a simple ceremony, after Buddhist religious observances. Major General Duminda Sirinaga, prior to this new appointment served as the Quarter Master General (QMG) of the Quarter Master General Branch at the Army Headquarters.
Staff Officers of the Quarter Master General Branch and Other Ranks joined the occasion.
The brief profile of Major General Duminda Sirinaga is as follows;
Major General Duminda Sirinaga was born on 12 January 1966.He was educated at Mahinda College, Galle and Badulla Central College. He was enlisted to the SL Army on 01 October 1985 as officer Cadet of Intake SSC7. He was commissioned as second lieutenant in the Regular Force of Sri Lanka Army and posted to Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers on 31 may 1986. Major General Duminda Sirinaga presently holding the appointments of Col Commandant of Corps of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.
He has served a number of command and staff appointments of the Army.
Among those key appointments, he held were Commanding Officer,1Bn and 2Bn, Commandant ,Base Workshop – CBO, Colonel Administration and Quartering of 22 DIV, Colonel EME, Dte of EME, Center Commandant, Regimental Head Quarters – SLEME, Director, DAM, Brigadier Administration and Quartering of SFHQ (West) , Director Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Director General Finance Management- AHQ and Quarter Master General- AHQ. And also Sri Lanka Cycling Association-Vice President, Army Cycling Association- President and Member of Automotive Engineers Sri Lanka (MIAE)
To his credit, he was awarded the East humanitarian Operation and North humanitarian Operation medal and a few more medals.
