Major General Dammika Jayasinghe of the Gajaba Regiment assumed duties on Tuesday (27) as the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) at Kosgama, amidst military formalities and religious blessings.
The day’s proceedings in connection with assumption of duties as the new Commandant began with reviewing of the Guard Turnout accorded in his honour by the troops of the Sri Lanka National Guard after the Senior Officer was received by Inspector of Training at the SLAVF, Brigadier Nihal Perera on his arrival in the camp premises.
An elegant Guard of Honour accorded at the parade ground at the HQ SLAVF saluted him after the Senior Officer was received by the Principal Staff Officer, SLAVF Brigadier Rohitha Aluvihare and Brigadier Administration, SLAVF Brigadier Christi Jayasinghe.
Amidst chanting of ‘Seth Pirith’, the Senior Officer placed his signature in an official document, symbolizing the formal acceptance of his new appointment at the auspicious time before he joined planting a sapling in the camp to signify his inauguration of his new office.
